  • BUG: fix Linux bundle image loading / build-on-ubuntu smoke-test crash (intermittent SIGABRT on GTK’s image-missing.png fallback, “Unrecognized image file format”). Root cause: PyInstaller’s GI hook introspects each gi module in a subprocess via the GIRepository typelib; the CI runner lacked that typelib, so the hook silently failed for every gi module and never bundled the gdk-pixbuf loaders / loaders.cache / icons / themes, leaving the frozen app unable to decode PNG. Install gir1.2-girepository-2.0 / gir1.2-girepository-3.0 in the build environment so the hook succeeds and bundles everything correctly; add a “Verify GI hook succeeded” CI guard against regression. (Builds worked locally only because dev machines have the typelib.)

  • BUG: fix Linux bundle missing GObject.type_register and other gi.overrides Python wrappers; PyInstaller’s GI hook skips overrides when module introspection fails; explicitly collect all gi.overrides submodules as hidden imports

  • BUG: fix dtool_lookup_gui/utils/about.py using pkg_resources.iter_entry_points (unavailable in Python 3.12+); replace with importlib.metadata shim

  • BUG: fix Linux bundle crashing with ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'dtool_cli.cli' — dtool-cli 0.7.1 uses pkg_resources.iter_entry_points (removed from Python 3.12+) and calls pretty_version_text() eagerly at module import time, causing PyInstaller analysis to fail and silently exclude the module from the bundle; vendor a fixed dtool_cli/cli.py in pyinstaller/vendored/ (importlib.metadata shim + deferred version call) and overwrite the installed copy before PyInstaller runs via pyinstaller/vendored/override_dtool_cli.py

  • Fixed frozen progress bar when dataset copy fails due to any exception (previously only ChildProcessError was caught; other errors such as missing storage plugin or wrong endpoint left the progress bar visible forever) — fixes #169

  • Copy progress popup now shows “Copy failed: ” on error instead of always reporting success — fixes #169

  • Improved dependency graph error message when the lookup server returns a non-JSON response (HTML error page): now shows a user-readable explanation instead of a raw ContentTypeError dump — fixes #370, #182
